It’s always a good idea to follow best practices, right?
A best practice is a method or technique that has been generally accepted as superior to any alternatives because it produces results that are superior to those achieved by other means or because it has become a standard way of doing things, e.g., a standard way of complying with legal or ethical requirements. ~Wikipedia
There are best practices for all established ventures, including web design. But are there better ways to go about things? Almost always, yes, there are.
The problem comes from searching for panaceas. We often look for that one pill that will cure all ills, but that isn’t how the world works in practice. There are always exceptions. And if your business is one of those exceptions, you may want to do some actual testing rather than just instate a best practice solution.
We have found this to be the case time and time again in our studies. We take advantage of Google Optimize and several other tools to do real world testing for our advanced initiates and our clients that are interested in that service. Sometimes the results will surprise you.
